Kitchen Yard LLC ("Kitchen Yard," "we," "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile app, and services (collectively, the "Platform").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: Name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
  • Profile information: Profile photo, saved addresses, dietary preferences, and allergen information.
  • Payment information: Payment card details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Operator information: Business name, permit numbers, kitchen address, food handler certifications, and bank account information (for payouts via Stripe Connect).
  • Communications: Messages, support requests, reviews, and other content you submit.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, search queries, and interaction patterns.
  • Location data: Approximate location (city/zip) for kitchen discovery. Precise location only when you explicitly enable it for delivery tracking.
  • Push notification tokens: Device tokens for sending order updates and notifications.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Social sign-in: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those providers.
  • Payment processors: Stripe provides us with transaction confirmations and payment status.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Process orders, subscriptions, and payments.
  • Connect customers with operators and drivers.
  • Send order status updates via push notification and email.
  • Provide customer support.
  • Improve the Platform, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  • Send promotional communications (only with your consent; you may opt out at any time).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
  • Track operator compliance information (permits, meal counters) for informational display.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • With operators: Your name, order details, delivery address (if applicable), and allergen preferences so they can fulfill your order.
  • With drivers: Your name, delivery address, and order details for delivery fulfillment.
  • Service providers: Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Firebase (push notifications), Supabase (database and authentication). Each provider has their own privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion, we retain transaction records for 7 years for tax and legal purposes. Push notification tokens are deleted when you uninstall the app or revoke notification permissions.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage, role-based access controls, and secure authentication through Supabase Auth. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and personal data.
  • Port your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt out of promotional communications.
  • Restrict certain processing of your information.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.

  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Children's Privacy

Kitchen Yard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. See our Child Safety Policy for details.

10. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use analytics tools to understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

11. Notification Preferences

You can manage your notification preferences (push, email) in your account settings. Transactional notifications (order confirmations, payment receipts) cannot be disabled while you have active orders or subscriptions.

12. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the latest version.
